Search Engine Optimization and Marketing

What if I told you that there was a well-written book about Search Engine Optimization with tons of information and only about a hundred pages?

Using Macromedia Flash

Flash animation is great!! When used for the right purpose at the right time. While Flash intros can sometimes be great eye candy for your users, there is one thing that most SEO experts agree on, It is not so great for SEO. Your showy Macromedia Flash intros might electrify and astonish, however an over-dependence on Flash may leave your site utterly invisible to a search engine.

Think about this the next time your Web administrator comes up with the brilliant idea to saturate your website with Flash. Search engines are built on the design that they primarily use text as the information that they index. Yes, search engines are starting to be able to read the links in a Flash setting; however it will be a long time before we get to the point where 100% of a flash site will be indexed by the search engines.

Finding Great Keywords

250 MILLION.

That is how many searches there are on Google alone in a day. Did you know that less than thirty percent of the users doing these searches go past the first page of results? Yes, really. In 2004 Google had more than 4 billion sites in its database. That is a lot of competition. With that many sites and that many users only looking at the first page of results, it can be very difficult to find ways to get your site in front of the people searching for your services. You may have the perfect page and the perfect product. If the user cannot find them, it does not matter.

Optimizing your online community

You don't want to be yet another online community, do you? Well, pull up a chair, dust off your keyboard and get creative. Or at the very least don't fall asleep.

Website indexing tools

I have often been asked “I have a website up, now what do I do?”

You may be thinking, “I have used most of my resources just putting the site up. I don’t have the budget to go out and spend thousands of dollars to have a SEO consultant come in and tell me what I should do.” Well, not to fear. I mentioned before that I am going to share with you a few things that you can do to increase your site traffic without putting a huge dent in your budget. In most cases, my suggestions will have minimal, if any, financial impact. Knowledge is power, as they say. Let's look into some of the ways we can empower you to promote and market your site effectively.
