I was reading in Brett Morris' blog, and noticed he said that it was important to have the full url of your site placed on external sites, in order to get Google to search them.
He said, "I am not talking about a CLICK HERE link. I am talking about using your full url as the link. Such as www.yourdomainname.com."
Why does that matter? The HTML will obviously have the full url in it, so why would a Click Here link not count?
That is a great question.
That is a great question. Sorry it took me so long to respond. I couldn’t find my coke.
Reading the html link is one of the tools that the Google search engines use to find and index a site. The search engines index your website using complex algorithms.
If you were to ask a mechanic to build you a car and then hand him a wrench and say, “Okay, get started,†they may have a hard time changing the tire, let alone building you a car. However, what if you gave the mechanic a garage with all of the tools that they would need to assemble a car? The mechanic would have a lot better chance of building the car.
The more tools that you give the search engine, the better it can cleanly index your site. When communicating, a statement is more likely to be understood if it is communicated clearly and repetitively. The more you tell the engine the more it can do with this information.
For instance, when you put your actual URL as the link on the website, the search engine has a better definition of what your site is about. If you can tell the search engine twice as much, it will increase the engines ability to index your site. This will increase your ability to communicate your purpose to your customer.
Another way that you can communicate your purpose is to use optimal keywords. As soon as I can find my pen I will be writing a blog about choosing optimal keywords.
